Fire, Power Lines and Bad Luck. I love you Dad!

The other night i was on the computer thinking of something to blog about (kinda ironic) when a breeze blew in through the window and i smelt smoke. I heard the dogs barking outside so i went out to look and i saw tons of people down the end of my street. I walked down and saw the house on the corner on fire. It belonged to a lovely old couple, the McDoogals. They were some of the nicest and funniest people you would ever meet. I saw Mrs M on the road crying so hard, it broke my heart as her house was enveloped in flames.
My firned from primary school was standing there in shock, she lives to houses down from the flaming house and was so scared it would spread and hurt more people and her family. I gave her a hug and stayed with her. We found out an power line fell and lit up the house.
Finally my dad came to walk me back home as i was pretty shocked, i was walking and suddenly the police was yelling at me and my dad was freaking out. I turned and started towards dad but he yelled at me louder. I stopped in my tracks, i had no idea what was going on. I finally saw it, it was the live power line and it was 10 cm infront of my chest. It was so close a small wisp of wind and i would have died.
Dad was yelling at me for my stupidity and i was mad at him and i was scared and crying (which is something i never do) , because it was such a shock that i could have died. Add that to the fire and my friends shock i kind of just broke down.
Later on i went to apologise to dad and he had tears in his eyes. He told me that because he works with crane he sees alot of deadly accident and deaths and he didnt want me to be the next one. I found out that day just how much Dad cares for me.That his hard outer shell was just his coping mechanism. I will never ignore him or treat him badly again.
